Hi Anzu Partners Community,

This month, I’m excited to share some big news: the launch of Lex Generalis, a law firm created specifically for startups, research institutions, and technology innovators.

At Anzu, we’ve seen time and again how unpredictable and expensive legal services can decimate a company’s runway. Founders hesitate to call counsel because they’re worried about the billable hour, or they end up spending their own valuable time drafting NDAs and reviewing contracts instead of building their business. We’ve watched teams delay protecting their intellectual property simply because they were worried about the cost. These are avoidable distractions and costly mistakes.

Lex Generalis was built to change that. The firm offers a flat-fee model to make legal spend predictable and delivers the core corporate and intellectual property services companies actually need to grow. That means everything from patent filings to cap table management, to an “always-on” data room that keeps investors confident and deals moving. By combining experienced attorneys, engineers, and operators with the use of technology and AI, the Lex team is helping founders stay focused on building transformational technologies.

I’m incredibly proud of this launch—not only because it fills a gap we’ve seen across the innovation ecosystem, but because it reflects our commitment to solving problems creatively, even when the solution doesn’t look like a traditional venture investment. Lex Generalis is already making a difference for companies like BioFlyte and Xendee, and I can’t wait to see how many more startups and researchers it can empower outside of the Anzu ecosystem as well.

Sincerely,

Cathryn Paine, Partner at Anzu Partners and CEO of Lex Generalis
